Well students, we've come to the end of semester and I'd like to congratulate you on your progress this semester. You tried very hard to use English in class and were very active throughout the classes. I hope I can be your teacher again in the future, so next semester, remember to use all the opportunity you have to improve your English, not only in the classroom but also watching films in English at home and using the wonderful sites you got to know during the final project.

My objective with the Listening Sites Project was to give you the chance to see how you can improve your listening. You don't need to rely only on what we cover in class,in fact that's very little, you can take an active role in your learning and go after new knowledge.

These are some pictures taken during your oral presentations this month. I bet some felt nervous as speaking another language in public can be hard, I know, so here is a round of applause to all of you.

Listen to the recorded statements we made in class. Students talked about this semester and next, they mentioned what they liked or didn't like, what they learned and their expectations for next semester. Students, listen to yourselves and try to identify your voices.

We know listening in English can be a challenge to all Brazilian learners. Our objective with this project suggested by Mary Hillis is to show students they can practise listening not only in the classroom but also in their homes. And most of all, by having students visit different sites they can share their discoveries.

PROJECT:
Visit one of these sites and write a report saying your name, the name of the site, the date you did the activity, the topic of the listening, a summary of the listening, a list of new vocab + meaning and your reaction to it.

TELEPHONE CONVERSATION

This week we practised some telephone conversations in class. Here is a video I found in YOUTUBE about a little boy pretending to be talking on the telephone with his dog. Watch the video and try to identify the PURPOSE the telephone call (Why does the dog call the little boy?)
Vocabulary: to RSVP= to give an answer to an invitation, either accepting or refusing it.

In other words: Do you you go to bed early and wake up early? Or are you someone who loves partying ´till late at night? This week we talked about that in class. This is a listening exercise where people from 6 different countries answer the same question. Try the listening and answer the questions. How well did you do?
